Interfaith Food Pantry - We collect food for the pantry every Sunday.    

Please deposit in the basket in the narthex.  We are halfway to our goal of collecting 500 food items by Valentine’s Day - Thank you one and all!!  Our next scheduled day to work the pantry will be  Sat,  March 3rd.   Interested in volunteering?  Contact Michael Sheldon at 353-5836

Super Bowl Chili - after the 10 am service - The Youth Group is making their famous chili to sell after the 10 am service on Sunday, Feb 5th.  Support our youth group and save yourself some time in the kitchen before the big game.  Give it a try along with some hearty corn bread at very reasonable prices. 

Adult Formation - February 12th - 9 am to 9:45 -  Classes resume on Feb 12th when we begin a book study of Sara Miles’ first book Take This Bread.  Sara Miles will be the keynote speaker and worship leader for our Diocesan Convocation March 9th & 10th.

St. David’s Youth BasketballSt. David’s  will be playing in a new league this year and the games will be starting very soon (possibly Feb 4th).  If you are a youth age 16 or younger who would like to play basketball this winter (games run from Jan to April) on Saturdays. Sstarbirth Sign-ups for 2012 - Look for sign-up in narthex - We arestill looking for volunteers to be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering lunch to Sstarbirth for this next year . Wetoa different coordinator for each month and we have a few openings still in the coming months.   The coordinator may receive help from other volunteers or do it as a family project..  There are usually 12 residents . Please see the sign-up in the narthex or contact Beth Hammond in the Parish Office.

Cranston 4Church Meeting - Sunday, Feb 12th - 12:30 pm - Upper Hall

Please join us for the next meeting of the 4 Episcopal Cranston Churches here at St. David’s.  Our guests will include members of local churches who have lived with (and through) a merger in their parish.  This will include a pot-luck luncheon so please sign-up in the narthex to let us know how many will be attending and what you’ll be bringing.  ALL ARE WELCOME!!

Lenten Meditation Booklet - The Worship Committee would like to compile another original Meditation Booklet for the Lenten season this year.  We encourage poems, written reflections, art work, photos or whatever form of message resonates with you.  Everyone is encouraged to participate - families, youngsters, teens.  The readings are available so Please sign up now.  Due date to parish office is  Feb 12th (to give us time to compile and print up the booklets).  For more info or ideas please contact Grace Malaby or Father Peter.

Burning of the Palms - Sunday, Feb 19th - after 10 am service

Did you know  .  .  .  that the ashes for this year are made from burning the palms left from last year?  If you have old palms left from last year please bring them in for February 19th and we will burn them after the 10 am service. this

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper - Tuesday, Feb 21st - 5:30 pm

Please join us in the Upper Hall on Tuesday, Feb 21st  for our traditional Pancake Supper.  We’ll have pancakes, sausage, ham, hash browns, fresh fruit and more.  This year our Youth Group will be preparing and serving the meal to benefit their favorite charity.  Adults $7 and children $3.50 - Please Join Us! 

Ash Wednesday Services - Wednesday, Feb 22nd - Noon & 7 pm

The liturgy for Imposition of the Ashes, and Holy Eucharist, will take place here at St. David’s with a daytimes service at noon and evening service at 7 pm.

Wednesdays in Lent - Beginning Feb 29th - 6 pm - Continuing March 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th - Join us every Wednesday in Lent at 6 pm. Compline will be at 6, with soup and discussion to follow.  New year, we will make it an opportunity for joint fellowship with our Cranston 4Church group by rotating locations:  Mar 7th - Church of the Ascension,Mar 14th - St. David’s, Mar 21st - Trinity Church, Mar 28th - Church of the Transfiguration.    

Diocesan Convocation - “Feeding the Hungry” - March 9th & 10th

(Friday & Saturday) As people, we hunger for many things: food, spiritual nourishment, social justice, righteousness, beauty, Christian community, hospitality, security and the list goes on. 

Our Diocesan Convocation this year seeks to discover how individuals to parishes in our diocese are feeding these hungers, and to inspire each other to join in this holy work.  Sara Miles, Episcopalian, author and coordinator of the St. Gregory of Nyssa, San Francisco Food Pantry will be with us as our keynote speaker.  More details can be found at our diocesan website (episcopalri.org) under news & events, or at our own website (stdavidsonthehill.net)
