Getting to Know St. David's
Newcomers to our church are most welcome to attend services, as well as spending some time to get to know us. We provide new visitors with material that will help you discover who we are, where we have been and where we are going. This page explains what this "welcoming packet" consists of.
Finding a new church for yourself or your family can be a daunting task. Will you fit in? Will the worship meet your needs? Will the sermons be meaningful? Will you have to fight to get the kids to go? These may be just some of the questions floating around in your mind.
The good news is you’ve already accomplished a couple of the most challenging steps to finding a new parish – you found a church that you believe might meet your needs, and you walked through the doors. And we’re glad you did, because that gives us the chance to welcome you in person, and begin to tell you a little bit about who we are, what we do together, and how we serve the world around us.
We hope you like our story, and that you want to be part of new chapters. But if not, that’s OK too. A lot of people have walked through these doors over the past 100 years. Some visited briefly, others stayed a lifetime, but most fall somewhere in between. Each and every one of them has been an important part of our story. We’re glad you’re here.
In this welcome packet we hope you’ll find answers to some of your questions:
a bit about our history;
a description of our education programs for children, young people and adults;
a list of some of the ways we care for the world around us;
a little bit about our worship;
names and contact information for folks who lead our various ministries;
the latest issue of our newsletter, The Lamp;
and a parish directory.
This information offers just a glimpse of what makes St. David’s such a special place. After going through this packet, you may come up with more questions. Our promise is that we’ll listen carefully, answer as best we can, and work hard to make you feel right at home here at St. David’s.
Welcome to our parish home – we hope you find yours here, too.
